Storm Water Management
Storm Water management practices are implemented at commercial and residential properties and local, state, and federal government facilities. Proper management of storm water run–off reduces downstream flood potential, water quality, and discharges of suspended solids, nutrients, contaminants and trash into Chesapeake Bay. Typical storm water structures include retention ponds, underflow dams, storm water conduits, rain gardens, etc.
ODE provides storm water maintenance for existing retention ponds and structures by keeping flow unobstructed and stabilization of the surrounding flora. These services include brush, tree and trash removal, regrading and reseeding of existing structures.
In addition, ODE handles permit compliance for regulated discharges. This is managed by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). ODE is equipped to sample using both manual and automated systems.
